You're Not Crazy, It's Paranormal

By: Diana Navarro M.S.

What would you expect research and statistics to say about what we think of the paranormal? That they believe in ghosts, haunted houses, telepathy/ESP, UFO’s, spiritual awakening, out-of-body experiences or tons of other types of experiences? Yes those are the questions most polls and questionnaires ask. But do you know what people actually want to share? It is that they aren’t crazy, that they really ARE experiencing paranormal events!

What would you expect research and statistics to say about what we think of the paranormal? That they believe in ghosts, haunted houses, telepathy/ESP, UFO's, spiritual awakening, out-of-body experiences or tons of other types of experiences? Yes those are the questions most polls and questionnaires ask. But do you know what people actually want to share? It is that they aren't crazy, that they really ARE experiencing paranormal events!

Notice while watching many paranormal programs, and reading books, hearing broadcasts, articles and blogs that people by far are asking, "Am I crazy?" when they experience spiritual and paranormal events. What if you were cleared medically, physically and emotionally of any conditions and still experienced things you could not explain by normal means? This is what can happen during a spiritual awakening or paranormal encounter.

My desire is to provide information, confirmation, validation, support and resources for various spiritual, paranormal and supernatural occurrences, so that there is a relief knowing you're not alone on journey.

Here you will find a primer of sorts exploring a variety of topics including:
•What incidents can be classified as paranormal versus an ordinary experience?
•What can trigger a spiritual crisis
•How to identify spiritual signs and synchronicities which are meant for you
•What a near death experience is
•What tools you can use to gently awaken your own intuition
•What yoga can do as a tool for healing.
•What steps to take for self-care during your spiritual journey
•What the difference is between benign supernatural experiences and frightening or dark paranormal incidents
•What to do and how to recognize psychic vampires versus a true healer
•See images of orbs or possible angelic signs

Those who are overwhelmed and frightened by their spiritual emergence can know that there is information, tools, support, that can allow you to embrace your spiritual journey with confidence and joy because you're not crazy, it's paranormal!

Can You Explain this Strange Image

Enlarged section of the orb

This close up image above was taken by me at a fundraiser a few holidays ago. It is in my book in the "orbs" section. Below you will see the original photo in context. I was very moved by it and many other photos taken that night. As I have said in my book  and whenever I speak of this, orbs are very controversial and interesting.

Many skeptics simply dismiss them as,

  • dust,
  • water,
  • bugs,
  • sand,
  • snow,
  • a hoax
  • or camera malfunction.
Although these explanations do work or certain anomalies, they cannot explain all of them. Certainly not so many I've caught directly on my camera under certain specific circumstances. So I ask:

Can you explain this beautiful orb and what it means?

Image from book "You're Not Crazy, It's Paranormal!"

The gentleman with the orb above was in the Military though I cannot say whether the orb is directly related to him or not. However, you will see several other orbs in the photo. One in on his right arm near his bicep and others are a bit more faded spread throughout the image.

I ask that you take a look at the many more images in my book along your own photos and see what appears in them you may not have noticed before.

Tips for Seeking the Paranormal and Ghost Hunting

Increased Interest in the Paranormal

There has been an enormous upsurge in the interest of paranormal phenomena in recent years. There have been many causes speculated, from the weakening of the base of traditional western Judeo-Christian spirituality to a reaction to the mobility of American society manifest as a longing to commune with long dead ancestors.

While the psychologists and sociologists continue to debate the issue, the popularity of so called ghost hunting continues to rise. For those who believe in such paranormal phenomena and are seeking to strike out on their own, consider this advice from top ghost hunters.

First, be sure to receive training from qualified ghost hunters before striking out on your own. According to professional ghost hunters, those who attempt to make contact with spirits without being reasonably prepared are at a risk to incur damage, either physically or, more likely, psychologically.

While some ghost hunters argue over whether or not spirits can physically harm humans, there is a strong consensus that an encounter for one who is not psychologically ready can leave lasting mental and emotional scars.

Most physical injury is caused by amateur ghost hunters fleeing the scene in the dark and running into or tripping over unseen obstacles. Seasoned ghost hunters suggest that you case the scene in the daylight before returning at night. Having a mental map of the area will help you to keep your bearings in the dark and can help you avoid injury.

Ghost hunters say that knowing the lay of the land is also helpful in case the situation becomes uncomfortable and you feel the need to quickly retreat. Being certain of the path out of the encounter area can lead to a feeling of greater control over the situation and can reduce the feelings of fear and panic that can occur. Keep your mind open and discover the darkness.

About all the Equipment

You have probably noticed that in all the ghost hunting shows and in everyday life those who dedicate themselves to this endeavor use all kinds of gadgets. The jury is still out on the effectiveness of some of these devices. Many believe that spirits, ghosts and other non-corporeal entities can not normally be detected with our five senses because they exist in a higher vibration. Most peole cannot perceive this area of existence. Animals have a way of hearing higher pitches, or seeing more of the electromagnetic spectrum than most humans. Some of this equipment is suppose to detect at those higher vibrations, be they electromagnetic frequency readers (EMF's) or cameras that have heat sensors, can detect ultraviolet area of the spectrum and /or sound recorders than can capture what we can't hear with the "naked" ear. These sounds are called electronic voice phenomenon or EVP. This has created a whole new market of equipment with all sorts of fancy claims. This field is rapidly evolving and with it scams and shams. This requires you to do a lot of research.

Basically, the best tool is a human being that is a "sensitive", which is a person who can perceive beyond the traditional five senses. More on this in my book.  Very often however, things occur that the average person can detect with just a regular camera, as in orbs (unexplained spherical objects that many believe are ghosts). I personally caught so many I decided I had to write a book about it showing real images (link below). Additionally, any recorder, whether it be digital or older versions can capture EVP's if there happens to be paranormal activity occurring.

The best advice I can give is, to engage in ghost hunting activity does have its risks so use caution. I suggest doing as much research as possible before doing any type of investigation. One has to know to protects oneself from any risk, including encountering something that can't be explained by traditional means. Unlike TV shows, it's not all fun and games. It is serious phenomenon we don't fully understand. It doesn't matter if you are a skeptic or believer, common sense should be used at all times.

Do You Know Enough About Ghosts and the Paranormal?

For centuries people having been and continue to talk about ghosts, spirits and all other supernatural events. Ghosts, spirits and other paranormal events are hot topics of conversation from ages. Many people believe in ghosts and others believe that all the strange events can be explained with the help of science. Just a look at the listings of current shows and see how many are based on paranormal topics. Reporting paranormal events has also increased exponentially.  Both the average person and the researchers are curious about the above and other phenomenon like:
  • Deja Vu
  • Astral Travel/Out of Body Experiences
  • Near Death Experiences,
  • ESP (Extra Sensory Perception)
  • Poltergeist
  • Alien/UFO
  • Angels and Demons
  • Miracles
  • Psychic abilities
  • Much more...
Some people think that ghosts are spirit of people who have died in the past. The presence of spirits is also explained in different ways. Some people think that ghosts remain in this world to complete there unfinished business. Some also believe that they remain to help guide others through here. According to some religions, ghosts are the demons that mean helpers of devil. Most of us have heard about ghost sightings, spiritual communication, and other supernatural activities. Most often hauntings occur in places where people have died or where their bodies are buried.

Nowadays many people and even scientists are trying to study ghosts and other unexplained stories. Some instruments which are used to interact with ghosts are:
  • infrared sensors,
  • thermal cameras,
  • geiger counters and
Recent photo with ORB above my head
  • digital voice recorders.
With the help of these instruments, professionals try to understand supernatural events. In addition to electronic equipment some spiritual mediums of communications are also used. There are no scientific sources which can explain the reliability of these methods but they are used widely in study of the paranormal.

After hundreds of years of research and studies, nobody can prove the existence of ghosts, spirits and other paranormal events. However, they can't disprove any of this either. Do ghosts really exist? The answer to this question really lies in a personal belief. You can find a lot of material written about ghosts, spirits and other unexplained mysteries but nothing has been proven scientifically. However I will say that science is just one resource we can use not the only one. We as humans are still evolving and so is our ability to learn and understand. We are learning that we have more than logic. This gives hope that more answers will be forthcoming and they are. Let's keep searching.

Are Orbs REALLY Ghosts Caught on Camera?

What are orbs

The short answer is, it depends on who you ask.

Orbs in the context of this post are spherical objects that appear in photos, videos and sometimes to the naked eye. These orbs are sometimes not perfectly spherical but most often are. Some people can create orbs digitally, but this is not what we are speaking of here. Many people believe these orbs are conscious energy, that is, they are sentient entities or ghosts/apparitions. Orbs can vary in size, color, brightness, and have very different shapes within them. Orbs have a way of appearing around specific people as well.

Skeptics will say it is most definitely not ghosts or any spiritual entity. It doesn't matter what the orb looks like, who took the photo or video, or any explanation associated with it. I feel we definitely need to examine all possibilities. But when one closes their minds completely, we stop our ability to expand.

I would have thought the same thing If I didn't keep getting them all over my photos and had my spiritual awakening. There is such a thing as taking a second and admitting we just don't know everything. So it is possible that there is some "ghostly" energy around us? That energy doesn't end at the time of our death but simply changes form? Many people ask me to tell them what specifically an orb means on their photo. But that is a delicate question and not always easy to answer.

This is how I explain in my book  "You're Not Crazy, It's Paranormal!"
"Orbs are a phenomenon that appears in photos and videos and is worthy of examination. There is a huge debate as to what they are. On occasion, some orbs can be seen by the naked eye but are much more often caught by cameras. There are many opinions on what these orbs actually are. The jury is still out as to what exactly these objects are. Some insist they are simply dust, water, bugs, sand, snow, or camera defects. I have to say that for me, it is hard to explain their placement and context, their distinct appearance, and the feeling one gets when looking at them. I feel comfortable saying that since I took most of these pictures, or was around when they were taken, it is unlikely these orbs are any of the above. If I were at the beach with sand, then I can say it could be sand instead of an orb. If I were in place where there were bugs like an outside scenery, again I could say that could be the reason for the spherical object. But even bugs have a slightly different appearance when photographed."

Here you see just two of the many examples I have captured in photos. I would ask you to look at your own photos, all of them and see if you see any curious shapes that cannot be explained by a lighting issue or technical abnormality.
Photo taken days after I published my book

The orb that got me looking at all my other photos

You will see many orbs I captured throughout the past few years. There are other interesting topics covered, but this most definitely was one of the inspirations for writing my book.

"You're Not Crazy, It's Paranormal!" The Book with Real Images

Are those ghost orbs around me? This book has

many photos with orbs in it. Take a look and you

decide. Better yet, look at your own photos and see if

you find any.

Paranormal Information for the Rest of us

What would you expect research and statistics to say about what we think of the paranormal? That they believe in ghosts, haunted houses, telepathy/ESP, UFO’s, spiritual awakening, out-of-body experiences or tons of other types of experiences?

I noticed something odd while looking at the research, watching many paranormal programs, and reading books, articles and blogs. I noticed that people by far were asking , “Am I crazy” when they experience spiritual and paranormal events. What if you were cleared medically, physically and emotionally of any conditions and still experienced things you could not explain by normal means? This is what can happen during a spiritual awakening or paranormal encounter.

Would you be surprised to know that 3 out of 4 Americans believe in various types of paranormal experiences, according to a Gallup Poll? That’s a lot of people and doesn’t even include other countries. So many people are reporting paranormal experiences that it makes complete sense to really take a look at may be going on. If indeed there is paranormal phenomenon occurring then what effect does that have on the experiencer?

With the deluge of material out there including shows on the supernatural, books, blogs, psychics you would think it’s easier to get answers. Unfortunately it can be even more overwhelming and maddening when all you want is to know what’s going on and that you really aren’t going insane. You can also feel lonely, angry, frightened and frustrated when people in your life cannot support or understand because they aren’t experiencing the same issues.

My desire is to provide information, confirmation, validation, support and resources for various spiritual, paranormal and supernatural occurrences, so that there is a relief knowing you’re not alone on journey …

Here you will find a primer of sorts exploring a variety of topics including:
·        What incidents can be classified as paranormal versus an ordinary experience?
·        What can trigger a spiritual crisis?
·        How to identify spiritual signs and synchronicities which are meant for you
·        What a near death experience is.
·        What tools you can use to gently awaken your own intuition.
·        What yoga can do as a tool for healing.
·        What steps to take for self-care during your spiritual journey.
·        What the difference is between benign supernatural experiences and frightening or dark paranormal incidents.
·        What to do and how to recognize psychic vampires versus a true healer.
·        See images of orbs or possible angelic signs.

Although I had academic background in psychology, over 24 years of experience as a crisis counselor, and general advisor, nothing could have prepared me for my own dark night of the soul and spiritual crisis. This led to a psychic opening that allowed me to not only embrace my gift as an Empath (a spiritual sensitive) but to use it all to provide information and healing to others.

The ability to incorporate traditional counseling skills, spiritual coaching, advising, broadcasting, and speaking about not only my experience but the experience of others is utilized to ensure you that there are answers out there. You will also get a bonus section on how to create your own sacred space, anywhere simply and effectively. Additionally you can access archived radio broadcasts anytime.

Acclaim for “You’re Not Crazy, It’s Paranormal!”

“The spiritual search begins when life and the world as you once knew it transforms into something other, something often unexplainable and incomprehensible.   This book will introduce you to ancient thoughts and concepts to help guide you on your way.  Trust the journey.”
~Bruce Joel Rubin
Screenwriter, GHOST, JACOB’S LADDER, MY LIFE, 1991 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Screenplay for the 1990 psychological thriller Jacob's Ladder.

“Diana Navarro’s new book ‘You’re not Crazy, It’s Paranormal!’ is a must read for anyone bold enough to embrace his or her own spirituality.  For those who experiences massive doses of the sixth sense the question really is, ‘How do you know you are not going crazy?’
Diana Navarro does a wonderful job of explaining how one’s spiritual awakening is indeed a natural process and how it can be exciting, beguiling, and at time unsettling.  As Diana correctly points out, those of us who take that courageous step toward embracing enhanced sixth sense sensitivity are not mentally imbalanced.  The spiritual journey is not an easy one, yet is rewarding beyond measure. This book is for anyone open minded enough to realize that there is more to a person then what meets the eye. And, it is for those who realize that healing is a gift from God which is sent to us in many beautiful forms.”
~Mark Anthony the Psychic Lawyer®
Author of Evidence of Eternity
and Never Letting Go

"[Diana Navarro is] full of energy and ideas – and have a lot to offer to others…Very few people show [this] kind of initiative and intelligence."
~Kenneth Roman former CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Worldwide, Author of The King of Madison Avenue: David Ogilvy, The Making of Modern Advertising, and Writing That Works, Second Edition

"A spiritual soul, performer and writer, Diana Navarro approaches the still-somewhat "taboo" topic of the paranormal with insight, thoughtfulness and wit. She adds a slice of humor to a world that many feel is forbidden. She makes those of us who harbor a sixth or seventh sense feel as though we're part of the norm, not outcast. Blending the practical with the ethereal, she also suggests techniques to enhance and expand ones spiritual skills.
From the historical to the philosophical, “You're Not Crazy, It’s Paranormal!” will make you feel like a Kid with a balloon , simultaneously floating on air and skipping on the ground. Like most things the general population has not yet accepted, the paranormal is in that limbo category of " not yet accepted"-- Diana is doing her utmost to lasso in the paranormal back into the corral of acceptance and warm heartedness.
~Mia Berman
Blogger Huffington Post, Radio host, Mia's World City World Radio Network

“There are 8 million real-life stories in the naked city, some involving the paranormal and things that defy conventional explanations—and native New Yorker Diana Navarro, drawing on her own experiences, brings a decidedly urban perspective to the subject of the paranormal in the intriguing ‘You’re Not Crazy! It’s Paranormal!?’”

Sturges Paranormal Investigates The (Haunted) Merchant's House Museum

Or Be Part of our LIVE audience.

When: TUESDAY LIVE at 6pm
What: Diana Navarro "Working Things Out" Show
Where:Broadcast LIVE from Giovanna's Restaurant
Join us at 1567 Lexington Ave (at 100th St)

About Our Guest
Dan Sturges from Sturges Paranormal re-joins us to discuss our experience while doing a Paranormal investigation of the Merchant's House Museum.

Dan is not only an incredibly talented actor who graduated from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, a recipient of the Spencer Tracy Scholarship and the Charles Jehlinger Award for acting but fortunately for us, an paranormal investigator.

He has been interested by the paranormal since childhood and worked extensively with various groups. Through years of extensive experience he created his own research groups including what is now Sturges Paranormal. Dan will discuss how his interest originated, some of his most interesting experiences, samples of what he's discovered and a surprise or two, including a example of an EVP (Electronic Voice Phenomenon believed to be a disembodied voice of a spirit/ghost).

About This Show:
Dan Sturges joins me to discuss the paranormal investigation we did at the Merchant's House Museum with the Sturges Paranormal team. This incredibly professional team included Dan Sturges himself, Anthony Bellov who is on the Board of Directors of the Merchant's House Museum and paranormal investigator, Scott Stiffler who is the writer/reporter/investigator, Mike Gustavson team paranormal investigator and your cordial Working Things Out host, empath and intuitive consultant Diana Navarro.

The paranormal is being explored, discussed and experienced more than ever. I have the pleasure of dedicating the Diana Navarro Working Things Out Show on this topic. This is an exciting and provocative topic for believers and skeptics alike. Check the history of this place for yourself here www.merchantshouse.org

If you've ever asked or heard of these questions below, then you'll enjoy listening indeed.

What was that strange noise?

Did I just see something appear and disappear in front of my eyes?

Why do I suddenly feel chills all over my body?

Why do I smell perfume/cigar/my grandfather's cologne when no one else is here?

I could have sworn I saw something move with the corner of my eye!

Why us my dog/cat/bird acting strange and acting like something/someone else is around?

Is it just our imaginations, or is there an invisible but vibrant world co-existing with ours? Are we just beginning to scientifically verify what we have already sensed intuitively? Why has the supernatural, paranormal and ghost hunting become so popular lately?

Do you have an experience you cannot explain away with logic and rational thinking or is there a question you would like to ask? Email me now at Dianan4839@aol.com. We will have an ongoing discussion on the paranormal in future shows.
